Lekempti, also known as Nekempti, is a region located within the state of Wollega, a state that is in the highland area in the Southwestern part of Ethiopia. In the province of Wellega, live the Oromo tribe, the largest tribe in Ethiopia. The majority of the Oromo are farmers. Income is mainly gained from coffee. The coffee is being grown at 1900-2100 meters and its taste is known for its fruity and caramel aroma, with notes of vanilla. It has a delicate and mild acidity that combines perfectly with the exotic and clean aftertaste.

What Makes Lekempti Coffee Unique?

  • Lekempti, also known as Nekempti, is a region located within the state of Wollega, a state that is in the highland area in the Southwestern part of Ethiopia. In the province of Wellega, live the Oromo tribe, the largest tribe in Ethiopia. Wollega has more rainfall than the dry Northern and Eastern areas of Ethiopia.
  • This coffee would typically be sold as “Lekempty,” a trading name in coffee to designate Western Ethiopian coffees traded through the city of Nekempti, while the coffee actually originates further west in East Wellega, also called “Misraq Wollega”, which is the Gimbi woreda.
  • Lekempti is a sun-dried natural bean produced in western Ethiopia. The coffee is known for its large bean size, and the flavour can have a pronounced perfume-like aftertaste.

For logistical reasons, items in the same purchase may be sent in separate packages even if you’ve specified combined shipping. This may be, for example, if you’ve selected Royal Mail and ordered just a few items which can be posted through your letterbox separately.
