Our Ethos & Our Values
Coffee Origin is a female-powered, British Ethiopian-owned, speciality Ethiopian coffee importer and roastery that has been working to bridge the gender gap in the coffee industry by working specifically with women farmers to improve their livelihoods and encourage gender equity in coffee.

Our inception & what we want to achieve in the future
Coffee origin was founded in 2010 by Meron Assefa who was living in London, UK at the time and saw an opportunity celebrate and promote Ethiopian Coffee to the World. Her passion for coffee grew and now the company exports both green and roast Ethiopian Coffee to the UK and other areas of the world. Coffee Origin is a member of the International Women in coffee Alliance and is working hard to promote women-grown Ethiopian Coffee to the World.
We are determined to be the best coffee exporters in the region and beyond, to promote unique coffees to the consumers world, to always provide our clients with the best quality, affordable coffee. One of our main goals is to promote majority women small-scale farmers by marketing their coffee and thereby creating a steady source of income for them.

Supporting Women
According to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), women account for 75% of the coffee production labour force in Ethiopia while only receiving 34% of the income generated. As such, we strongly believe that empowering women in Ethiopia’s coffee sector is vital to improving gender equality and poverty.
Coffee Origin sources carefully selected coffee beans direct from farms, and we ensure that all labourers are treated equitably and paid a fair income.
